Patient FAQs

When should a woman first visit a gynaecologist?
It is generally recommended that young women have their first gynaecological visit between the ages of 13 and 15. This initial visit is usually for establishing a doctor-patient relationship, discussing menstrual health, and providing health education, rather than a full pelvic exam.
Difference between obstetrician and gynaecologist?
An obstetrician specializes in pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. A gynaecologist focuses on female reproductive health outside of pregnancy. Our specialists are trained in both (OB/GYN).
Are uterine fibroids dangerous? Do they always require surgery?
Most fibroids are non-cancerous. They only require treatment if they cause heavy bleeding, severe pain, or fertility issues. Many can be managed with medication; surgery is recommended only when necessary.
What makes a pregnancy "high-risk"?
Factors include maternal age over 35, carrying multiples, pre-existing conditions like diabetes/hypertension, or complications developed during pregnancy.
Is laparoscopic surgery better than traditional open surgery?
Yes, in most cases. Laparoscopic surgery involves smaller incisions, leading to less pain, minimal scarring, shorter hospital stay, and faster return to normal activities.
